उत्तराखंड के अल्मोड़ा में सीवेज के पानी को हाइड्रोपोनिक सब्जी उत्पादन का आधार बनाया गया है, जिसके लिए राष्ट्रीय पेटेंट मिला है। यह नवाचार जल संरक्षण और सतत कृषि की दिशा में एक महत्वपूर्ण कदम है। इस तकनीक से सब्जी उत्पादन में पानी की बचत होगी और सीवेज के पानी का प्रभावी उपयोग किया जा सकेगा। यह पर्यावरण के लिए भी अनुकूल है।
जीबी पंत राष्ट्रीय हिमालयी पर्यावरण संस्थान को अभिनव तकनीक “मल-कीचड़ उपचार संयंत्रों (एफएसटीपीएस) से उपचारित अपशिष्ट जल आधारित हाइड्रोपोनिक खेती प्रणाली” के लिए राष्ट्रीय पेटेंट प्रदान किया गया है। अब सीवेज प्लांट से उपचारित जल से सुरक्षित सब्जी उत्पादन किया जा सकता है।
गोविन्द बल्लभ पंत राष्ट्रीय हिमालयी पर्यावरण संस्थान के वैज्ञानिकों ने लद्दाख क्षेत्र में दो वर्षों तक इस प्रयोग को सफल कर दिखाया। उन्होंने यहां सीवेज के अपशिष्ट जल को उपचारित कर हाइड्रोपोनिक प्रणाली से सफलतापूर्वक टमाटर ओर अन्य सब्जियां उगाई। इस नवाचार के आविष्कारकों में डॉ. ललित गिरी, मोहम्मद हुसैन, जिग्मेत चुश्कित आंगमो, डॉ. संदीपन मुखर्जी, डॉ. इंद्र दत्त भट्ट और डॉ. सुनील नौटियाल शामिल हैं।
लद्दाख में कम वर्षा, अत्यधिक ठंड और सीमित कृषि भूमि जैसी चुनौतियों को देखते हुए यह तकनीक एक बड़ा समाधान बनकर उभरी है। लेह के बोम्बगढ़ क्षेत्र में स्थित मल-कीचड़ उपचार संयंत्र से प्राप्त जल को प्राथमिक, द्वितीयक व तृतीयक उपचार, निस्पंदन और यूवी विसंक्रमण के बाद पॉलीकार्बोनेट ग्रीनहाउस में उपयोग किया गया। ड्रिप आधारित हाइड्रोपोनिक प्रणाली, कोकोपीट ग्रो बैग और गुरुत्व-आधारित पोषक तत्व वितरण से ऊर्जा-कुशल खेती संभव हुई।
बेहतर पोषण और गुणवत्ता
अल्मोड़ा: मैदानी परीक्षणों में पारंपरिक खेती की तुलना में अधिक उत्पादन और बेहतर पोषण गुणवत्ता दर्ज की गई। टमाटरों में लाइकोपीन, बीटा-कैरोटीन व एंटीऑक्सीडेंट्स की मात्रा अधिक पाई गई, जबकि किसी भी प्रकार की भारी धातु या विषैले तत्व नहीं मिले।
जल संकटग्रस्त क्षेत्र में अनुकूल
वैज्ञानिकों के अनुसार यह तकनीक जल-संकटग्रस्त और उच्च ऊंचाई वाले क्षेत्रों में जलवायु-अनुकूल, सतत कृषि की दिशा में मील का पत्थर है। यह नवाचार शहरी कृषि और अपशिष्ट जल प्रबंधन को जोड़ते हुए खाद्य सुरक्षा के नए द्वार खोलता है।
संवेदनशील पर्वतीय पारिस्थितिक तंत्रों में खाद्य सुरक्ष को मजबूत करने के लिए यह तकनीक कारगर साबित होगी। आगे भी नए प्रयोग भविष्य की संभावनाओं को खोलेंगे।
